Ecology: the pepper grinder problem

Why is this complicated to buy an eco-friendly pepper grinder ?

Disclaimer: I do not have formal education in ecology or ***. This article is from a point of view of a consumer and is more an opinion and interrogation article than an informative one. (I am French and I live in Paris).

I just wanted to buy a pepper grinder, as the one I already have is convenience-store bought with questionable quality.

I was hoping to buy from a famous French brand known to manufacture and sell kitchen items usable for a lifetime.
